Why CCSBA?

Many people don't understand the importance which a local Baptist Association has in the spread of the gospel and the growth of the church.  This is true as well of a state Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.

Our hope is the following information will help you understand why each church needs to be part of a local Association.

An association of Southern Baptist churches serves as a local network of cooperating churches that share a commitment to advancing the gospel and fulfilling the Great Commission. Here are the key roles and benefits of such an association and why a church might choose to join:

Roles of a Baptist Association:
1. Cooperation and Collaboration:
The association provides a platform for churches to work together on missions, community outreach, and ministry efforts that may be too large for a single church to undertake.
2. Support and Resources:
Member churches receive support such as leadership training, pastoral care, access to ministry tools, and guidance on church health and growth.
3. Accountability and Encouragement:
The association encourages doctrinal alignment and spiritual accountability while fostering fellowship and mutual encouragement among pastors and congregations.
4. Mission Coordination:
Associations often organize and fund local mission projects, disaster relief efforts, and initiatives to reach unreached people groups.
5. Communication and Networking:
Associations serve as a hub for churches to share information, events, and resources, fostering a sense of unity and purpose.

Why Should a Church Join and Participate?
1. Shared Mission:
Joining allows a church to partner with like-minded congregations to spread the gospel more effectively on a local, national, and global scale.
2. Ministry Expansion:
An association offers opportunities for joint participation in larger-scale ministries and missions that may be unattainable independently.
3. Leadership Development:
Member churches benefit from pastoral training, leadership conferences, and workshops that strengthen their ministry.
4. Community Impact:
Churches in an association can pool resources to have a greater impact in their communities, addressing needs like poverty, education, and disaster recovery.
5. Fellowship and Encouragement:
Membership provides a network of spiritual support, especially for pastors who can often feel isolated in their ministry.
6. Access to Resources:
Associations often have access to Southern Baptist resources, including materials from the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the International Mission Board (IMB).

Spiritual and Practical Value:
Membership in an association helps churches remain connected to a broader gospel movement while maintaining their autonomy. By participating, churches align themselves with a mission-focused community dedicated to serving the Lord collectively and effectively.
