Greetings to Pastors and Youth Workers of our CCSBA churches, June 25, 2018
Many have asked – and YES – we are having a Youth Retreat this summer. Dates for the retreat are Thursday July 19 to Saturday July 21. Students from 7th grade to age 18 are encouraged to attend. Cost for the retreat will be $65, which includes everything except what the student wants to spend at the snack shack or at Jolly Cone. Registration may be done ahead of time, or on July 19th at the camp. In either case, please call Sandy at our office to let her know how many from your church will be attending so we can have the right amount of material available. The retreat will be held at the South Missouri Baptist Assembly camp in Van Buren.
Daniel Bray, our CCSBA BSU Director, will once again be doing the Bible teaching for the retreat. His theme is Upside Down – and I believe it’s going to be a time when God speaks to the hearts of each participant. Besides the Bible study, there will be fun times for swimming, games, worship, friendship building, and a carpet ball tournament.
Enoch Richardson, who led worship last year for the retreat, will be our worship leader again this year.
The basic schedule will be:
Thursday, July 19th – 2:30 pm Check-in and find your bunk
The rest of Thursday will feature swimming, dinner, the evening worship time and Bible study, followed by round one of the carpet ball tournament.
Friday, July 20th – begins with breakfast followed by a full day of activity. There will be two worship/Bible study times, swimming, games, and more – including the final round of carpet ball at 9:00 pm.
Saturday, July 21st – we’ll have our final worship/Bible study time after breakfast, and then we’ll be ready to check-out about 10:30 am and head to Jolly Cone for a treat before heading home.
Cabin sponsors are a vital part of the retreat experience. It is a priority for each sending church to have an adult cabin sponsor or have their youth paired up with another churches adult sponsor. Cabin Sponsors share great responsibility in helping the retreat run smoothly, and in helping each participant get the most out of the experience. It is vital that every adult understand this responsibility before committing to this position.
The Biblical theme for the retreat this year is Upside Down. Growth in Bible knowledge and growth in faith is the most important aspect of the retreat. Daniel and Enoch will be well prepared to lead everyone in worship and study. Our adult sponsors will also play a part as they facilitate discussion times for the youth.
This camp packet has several important parts. The Camp Registration Form/Health Information must be filled out for each youth and each sponsor. The Special Attention Card will help us be mindful of each participants special requirements. This is required if a child is on medication or has some other issue. Only one card is required per youth. If there are no issues, then a card is not required. The Head Lice Form is also a required form and should be completed just prior to (no more than a week before) the retreat and presented at registration. The Things To Bring list helps each participant understand what is needed and what is prohibited. Please note that youth will not be allowed to use cell phones. Adult Sponsors are allowed to have their phone, and please make sure that each parent has your name and phone number in case of an emergency. Get the packet here YOUTH RETREAT packet
